First Presbyterian Wheaton welcomes Interim Senior Pastor

David Handley joins First Pres Wheaton

As of June 1, 2015 Rev. Dr. David S. Handley has joined the ministerial team of First Presbyterian Wheaton as Interim Senior Pastor/Head of Staff. He fills the position vacated by Rev. Dr. Paul Kirbas in January 2015.
Dr. Handley has extensive training and experience in interim pastoral ministry, having successfully filled interim positions in Texas, Tennessee, and most recently Clarendon Hills, IL. Previously, he served congregations in Evanston (First Presbyterian) and Chicago (Fourth Presbyterian). His educational credentials include: Indiana University, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, McCormick Theological Seminary, and Princeton Theological Seminary.

In announcing the selection, Nancy Cinatl, elder and chair of the Interim Pastor Nominating Committee observed that “after reviewing many pastors’ credentials, we felt fortunate to be able to offer the position to Dr. Handley. Pastor Dave’s years of experience as a senior pastor, his experience as an interim pastor, his leadership competencies, his collegial and his pastoral approach matched what we had discerned would be the best fit for First Presbyterian. As part of our evaluation, we contacted his numerous references who gave him glowing recommendations. It was very clear by then that we should look no further”.
