Free Bike Safety Class for Kids Held This Weekend in Wheaton

Registration is required.

The Wheaton Bicycle Advisory Committee and the Wheaton Park District are teaming up to provide a free bike safety class for children and their parents to encourage biking for both transportation and fun.

There will be two sessions of this one-hour class starting at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016. Participants should be ages 5-11, and children must be accompanied by a parent. Both classes meet in the parking lot of Rice Pool at the Community Center. In case of rain, the class will meet in the Community Center.

Laurel Salvador, League of American Bicyclists Cycling Instructor and member of the Wheaton Bicycle Advisory Committee, will be the class instructor. Parents and their children will learn a proper helmet fit, bicycle fit, bicycle safety checks and some fun and practical bicycle handling skills. You will need to bring your own bicycle and helmet to the class and wear comfortable clothing for riding.

There is no fee for this class, but you must register through the Wheaton Park District at www.wheatonparkdistrict.com. The class section numbers are 215406-01 and 215406-02.
