Glendale Heights Man Charged After Gun Fires, Bullet Goes Through Wall, Hits Family Member: Cops

The incident took place early Tuesday, according to Glendale Heights police.

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL — A Glendale Heights man faces felony charges after police a gun he was handling discharged a bullet that went through the wall of his home and shot a family member. The family member, who was sleeping on the couch, was treated at a nearby hospital and released.

Fernando Cardoso, 21, of the 400 block of James Court was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm in connection with Tuesday's incident.

Police were called to a home in the 400 block of James Ct. just after 4 a.m. Tuesday for a report that a gun hand gone off and a bullet had gone through the wall of Cardoso's bedroom and into the living room, hitting a member of Cardoso's family.

Cardoso was taken into custody ahead of a pretrial hearing.
