Hey Wheaton!: How Will You Make a Difference on Oct. 25?
Make A Difference Day is Oct. 25 and Wheaton residents are encouraged to give back to their community.

October 25 will be a good day in Wheaton. After all, it is the national day of doing good things for others, known as Make a Difference Day.
Wheaton’s Community Relations Commission encourages you to take part by joining the projects listed below or creating one of your own. For more information about any of the projects listed below, seewww.wheaton.il.us/madd.

Support City’s Adopted Army Battalion
- The Community Relations Commission is collecting candy, gum, new books and small toys and games as stocking stuffers for children of the City’s adopted battalion, “The Big Red One,” 1-18 Infantry. Collection boxes will be at City Hall and the Wheaton Public Library through Nov. 11.
- The commission seeks businesses or citizens to help fund 850 workout T-shirts for the battalion’s soldiers in the battalion.
Stuff-a-Truck with Food

The Wheaton Chamber of Commerce is leading the Stuff-a-Truck with Food effort to collect healthy, non-perishable food for those in need through the People’s Resource Center. Numerous locations in the community have food donation collection boxes, or you can drop off food from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the People’s Resource Center, 201 S. Naperville Road, Wheaton.
- Films for Food
As part of the Stuff-a-Truck food drive, anyone can bring a nutritious food donation to Studio Movie Grill, 301 Rice Lake Square, Wheaton, on Thursday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 23 and receive a free movie ticket for that day. - Food for Fine
As part of the Stuff-A-Truck food drive, the Wheaton Public Library is taking $5 off of library fines for anyone who brings a nutritious food donation on Oct. 25.
Adams Park Cleanup
Bring your favorite yard tools to help clear, weed and rake Adams Park. From 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Oct. 25, volunteers will help beautify Adams Park. Anyone interested in helping should meet at the park’s fountain. The City will provide bags, buckets, extra rakes and truck disposal.
Kids Making a Difference
Edison Middle School, Lowell Elementary, Washington Elementary and Whittier Elementary are collecting items for the Stuff-a-Truck with Food effort.
Wheaton Community Making a Difference
The Women’s Department Club of Wheaton/Glen Ellyn will be taking up a monetary collection in support of the City’s adopted Army battalion, “The Big Red One.”
