High-End Burger Restaurant To Open In Wheaton

The Burger Local, an upscale hamburger joint, will offer specialty burgers, craft cocktails, and milkshakes in a chic dining room.

WHEATON, IL — More than a dozen specialty burgers grace the menu at The Burger Local, which is in the works to open in Wheaton. The Burger Local, which has a location in Geneva, is known for its locally sourced beef and other entrees that put an upscale twist on traditional pub fare.

Burgers are of course the highlight of the menu at The Burger Local. Standout burgers include the Short Rib, a red wine-braised short rib burger topped with gooey gruyere and caramelized shallots and the Hangover Helper, a smoked pork patty topped with a breakfast sausage, hash browns, egg, gouda cheese, and bourbon maple syrup.

Each week, The Burger Local features a different burger that is not on the menu, such burgers topped with hot Cheetos or mac 'n cheese. There are plenty of "alternative protein" burgers to choose from too. Diners can try the spicy Chipotle Chicken patty, nosh on a fried shrimp "burger" with unagi sauce, avocadoes, and sriracha aioli, or go meat-free with a portobello mushroom slathered in black truffle caesar dressing.
