WHEATON, IL — Some 500 residents recently attended a Ready, Set, VOTE Expo at Cantigny Park presented by the League of Women Voters. More than 50 local candidates were on hand to meet and greet voters and take part in a forum at the event, which also featured a demonstration of the county's new voting machines.

“Ready Set Vote is truly a voter education event," Voter Services Co-Director and event organizerErica Nelson said in a statement."

Nelson added, "We truly appreciate all the candidates who attended and answered voter’s questions on a beautiful fall day. Thanks too, to our volunteers and to Cantigny for being such a generous host."

The voter expo was open to all candidates who plan to run for office in DuPage County in the Nov. 8 general election. Though the event was well-attended, some candidates were unable to make the expo and some planned forum participants did not attend.

Nelson said, "The scheduled candidate forums help voters see where candidates stand on issues important to them. We are disappointed on behalf of voters that an opportunity for voter education in some races has been lost."
