Identity Thief Files Taxes Under Wheaton Resident's Name
Police say the suspect also tried to open a credit union account with the victim's info.

WHEATON, IL — Police in Wheaton are investigating an identity theft in which a resident's info was stolen and used by someone else to file taxes. The incident, which targeted a resident in the 800 block of Pershing Ave., was reported on March 20, according to police records.
The victim told police that their information was stolen by a suspect or suspects who then filed their own taxes under the victim's name. According to police, the suspect(s) also used the victim's information to try to open an account at a credit union.
