Identity Thieves Strike 3 Times In Wheaton

Suspect(s) stole information from three residents to commit credit card fraud and open false accounts.

WHEATON, IL — Identity thieves used personal information from three Wheaton residents to make fraudulent transactions, steal cash, and open a false account with Comcast. Police say the incidents took place between Sept. 15 and Oct. 18, but it is not clear whether the crimes are linked.

On Sept. 15, someone stole information from a resident in the 2300 block of Richmond, according to police. The victim's personal information was used by the suspect to open an account with Comcast.

Just a week later a resident in the 1500 block of Gainesboro Dr. told reported that their personal information was stolen. Unauthorized credit card transactions were made on the victim's account, they told police.

On Oct. 18, personal information was stolen from a resident in the 10 block of Sterling Cir. The suspect(s) then made cash withdrawals from the victim's account via an ATM.
