Illinois Prairie Path Attack: Woman Grabbed in Broad Daylight

The woman was grabbed from behind as she walked Illinois Prairie Path Monday afternoon. Police seek the public's help finding the attacker.

WHEATON, IL — A woman was attacked on Illinois Prairie Path by an unidentified man Monday afternoon. The man grabbed her from behind, but the woman was able to break free and escape unharmed, police said.

The attack took place around 3:30 p.m. between Pleasant Hill and County Farm roads. After he grabbed the woman, the suspect ran towards Peter and Churchill roads in unincorporated Wheaton.

Police said in a statement that they believe the man involved in the Prairie attack is no longer in the area and that he does not currently pose a threat to residents. The attacker is described as a white male around 20 or 30 years old with a medium build. His face was unshaven and he wore a red shirt with cut off sleeves, black pants, sunglasses and a black baseball cap worn backwards at the time of the Prairie Path attack.
