Korean War Veteran Don Sender to Present at Wheaton Public Library on June 24 at 7pm for 65th Anniversary of Korean War
Korean War veteran and Wheaton resident Don Sender will present at the Wheaton library Wednesday, June 24 at 7pm.
This year marks the 65th anniversary of the Korean War. Wheaton resident and Korean War veteran Don Sender will visit the Wheaton Public Library Wednesday, June 24 at 7pm to discuss his experiences as a cryptographic technician during this “Forgotten War.” No registration is required.
Sender is a retired American history and World geography teacher as well as a retired Chief Warrant Officer in the US Army Reserve. He served 37 consecutive months overseas during the Korean War while a member of the Army Security Agency before being honorably discharged in 1954 as a Staff Sergeant.
He then enlisted in the Army Reserve in 1976, serving in both tactical and strategic Psychological Operations units, earning his Warrant and later, his Commission as a Counter-Intelligence Technician. He was a summer course instructor for many years at Fort McCoy, WI, teaching Counter-Intelligence, Military Security, Electronic Warfare, Counter-terrorism, and Interrogation of Prisoners of War. He has also been a guest lecturer in Psychological Operations at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare School at Fort Bragg, NC.
