Man Accused Of Stealing DuPage County Truck After Jail Release
Police say Christopher Britter, 30, was later found sleeping in the county truck on the side of the road in Darien.
WHEATON, IL — A Chicago man faces new charges after police say he stole a county-owned truck shortly after he was released from DuPage County Jail. Christopher Britter, 30, of the 4300 block of Sheridan Road, was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and theft in connection with the Aug. 14 incident.
According to DuPage County State's Attorney' Office, Britter was released from DuPage County Jail on Aug. 13 after being charged with disorderly conduct. Police say Britter did not immediately leave the premises.
Britter is accused of stealing a county truck that had been left unlocked and running around 1:14 a.m. Police say the truck was later found on the side of Lemont Road in Darien with Britter asleep in the driver's seat.

DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement, "It is alleged that shortly after posting bond on disorderly conduct charges, Mr. Britter wasted no time in allegedly committing another crime, this time a felony. I would like to thank the Wheaton and Darien Police Departments for their efforts that resulted in the quick identification and apprehension of the defendant in this case."
Britter is set to appear in court again Sept. 8.
