Man Forged Drug Treatment Papers For Defendant: DuPage Co. Cops

Robert Almeida, 43, of Chicago, allegedly forged a document that said a defendant completed drug treatment at his company.

WHEATON, IL — Police have charged a Chicago man with forging paperwork he provided DuPage County Department of Probation. Robert Almeida, 43, of the 5400 block of Tripp Ave., allegedly submitted documents that showed a defendant had completed court ordered drug treatment through his company. Courts later found that Almeida did not provide the treatment, nor was he authorized by the Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse to do so.

According to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, Almeida turned himself in on Nov. 14 and was released after posting $1,000 bond.

Almeida allegedly submitted the paperwork in July 2017. Police issued a warrant for Almeida's arrest on Oct. 31 after an investigation revealed the paperwork had allegedly been forged.

State's Attorney Robert Berlin said, "The charge against Mr. Almeida is very serious in that his alleged actions were an attempt to undermine the authority of the Court. Court orders are orders, they are not suggestions and any attempt to circumvent the authority of the court will not be tolerated."

He added, "I would like to thank officials with the DuPage County Department of Probation for bringing this matter to our attention. I would also like to thank Investigator Nick Liberio as well as Assistant State’s Attorney Amanda Meindl for their work on this case.”
