Man With Knife Apprehended In Wheaton: Police

Wheaton schools were temporarily on lockdown as police sought the armed suspect early Wednesday.

WHEATON, IL — Police in Wheaton apprehended a man who was armed with a knife Wednesday morning. Police worked with the DuPage County Sheriff's Office to take the suspect into custody near the intersection of Geneva Rd. and Gary Ave.

Wheaton schools, including Carl Sandburg School, St. Mark's, and Wheaton North High School, were placed on temporarily lockdown during the incident. Police say the incident was not related to the schools and that the lockdown was placed as a security precaution.

The DuPage County Sheriff's Office has yet to release the suspect's name.
