Robber in 'Scream' Mask Targets 2 Warrenville Hotels

The armed robberies both happened early Monday.

A man armed with a knife and wearing a mask from the horror movie, Scream, robbed a Warrenville hotel early Monday and attempted to rob another hotel in the area, police said.

The suspect got away with an unknown amount of cash after he entered the lobby Hyatt House Hotel, 27554 Maecliff Drive, at about 1:42 a.m., approached the desk clerk and demanded the money, according to a news release.

He fled the scene and short time later, authorities were dispatched to the Residence Inn, 28500 Bella Vista Parkway, where it is believed the same man entered the hotel and demanded money. The desk clerk refused to hand over money and the suspect then fled the scene.

No one was injured in either armed robbery.

Surveillance video shows the suspect is a male. He is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 230 pounds, according to Warrenville police. He wore a black hoodie, pants, and gloves, and black Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star gym shoes with white laces and rubber sole during the robberies.
