New Trial Denied in Heroin Death of Wheaton Woman

Augustina Taylor died in 2012 after a "welcome home" party upon her release from prison.

A friend who gave a Wheaton woman a fatal dose of heroin in 2012 was denied her request for a new trial on Thursday.

Jennifer Nere now faces 6 to 30 years in prison. DuPage County Judge Daniel Guerin set the Summit woman’s sentencing for Oct. 15.

Nere, 34, brought Augustina Taylor, 32, heroin the day after Taylor got out of prison, June 27, 2012. The next day, Taylor was found dead in her mother’s bathroom following a “welcome home from prison” celebration.
