New Year's Day Fire Damages Home In Wheaton

The blaze broke out around 10 a.m. Sunday in a home on Polo Drive, according to fire officials.

WHEATON, IL — A family was displaced from their home on Polo Drive on New Year's Day after a fire broke out.

The Wheaton Fire Department was called to the 600 block of Polo Drive around 10 a.m. for a report of a blaze in a single-family home. When they got to the scene, firefighters located a fire in the house's lower level and were able to put out the flames within minutes.

The residents got out of the home safely and no one was hurt, according to fire officials.

The cause of the fire was not determined as of Sunday night, but it is not believed to have been suspicious.
