No Injuries Following Apartment Fire in Wheaton

The blaze broke out at a large apartment complex on Briarcliffe Boulevard in Wheaton on Monday.

No one was injured Monday evening when a fire broke out at an apartment building in Wheaton.

Firefighters were called to 1679 E. Briarcliffe Boulevard at about 7:15 p.m. The blaze started in a third-floor unit after firefighters believe an item was accidentally left unattended on a stove burner, according to a city of Wheaton press release.

The blaze was brought under control within minutes and the unit where the fire was started was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.

All residents within the apartment complex were able to safely escape. The apartment where the fire started is uninhabitable but the rest of the units were not affected by the blaze.
