Rauner To Sign Bill Dissolving DuPage Election Commission

The bill will dissolve the election commission and transfer duties to the county clerk's office.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — After years of effort from County Board Chairman Dan Cronin, the DuPage Election Commission will soon be no more. Governor Bruce Rauner is set to sign House Bill 5123 on July 23, which will dissolve the election commission and transfer its duties to the County Clerk's office.

The dissolution comes after more than 53% of voters approved the proposition in March's general election primaries. That election also put a shadow over the DuPage Election Commission when an equipment malfunction delayed voter tallies.

The General Assembly approved House Bill 5123 unanimously not long after.
