Resident's Identity Stolen When Mail Is Fraudulently Forwarded
Wheaton police say resident had never filled out change-of-address form through post office.

A resident reported to Wheaton police that someone filled out a fraudulent change of address form and had his mail forwarded to Miami, FL, reports said.
Police said the resident received a notice from the U.S. Postal Service security division confirming a recent “change of address” request.
The resident was advised that the request was made on Nov. 30 and extended to Dec. 19. After completing the appropriate form to stop the change of address request, the resident learned that his mail had been forwarded since the beginning of December.

The postal inspector was able to report the new address to be in Miami, FL, but it was unknown how much mail had already been sent.
The resident also received a new Visa card for an account that he never opened. The bank was able to produce the resident’s address, date of birth and social security number. He was advised to file a police a report and notify the credit bureaus. A watch was also placed on his social security number.
