Roof Fire Reported at Cardinal Fitness in Wheaton
The fire broke out early this morning at the shopping center at 266 E. Geneva Road.

A roof fire broke out early this morning at the Cardinal Fitness in Wheaton.
Fire officials were called to the shopping center at 266 E. Geneva Road at 1 a.m. and found a fire in the roof above the Cardinal Fitness, according to a city of Wheaton press release.

The fire was confined to the roof space above the occupancy and it was brought under control within approximately 20 minutes. The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no one was injured.
The cause of the fire was deemed accidental and appears to have been related to the electrical supply for a lighted building sign. Damage estimates are unavailable at this time.

The Wheaton Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Wheaton Police Department and several fire departments from neighboring communities.
