Route 59 Lane Closures Expected During Construction Project

The construction project is expected to start on Monday, Sept. 28, and continue through May 2016.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that there will be temporary, daytime lane closures on Illinois 59 (South Neltnor Boulevard) for various improvements between Dayton Avenue and Browning Way, in West Chicago, beginning, weather permitting, Monday, Sept. 28.

The scope of the work includes drainage improvements and new traffic signals at Dayton Avenue and Browning Way. A right turn lane will be built on northbound Illinois 59 to Dayton Avenue.

The project will be complete by May 2016.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
