Semi Flips, Spills Asphalt At McDonald's In West Chicago

Police say the driver was hospitalized and traffic was halted for two hours.

WEST CHICAGO, IL — A man is hospitalized after the asphalt truck he was driving flipped and spilled its load in a McDonald's parking lot in West Chicago around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Police say traffic was halted in both directions on Rte. 59 as crews cleared the scene near the 300 block of Neltnor Ave.

The driver, identified as Sergio Hernandez, 26, was taken to Central DuPage Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, according to police. Officials say no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

As of 11:30 a.m., police said the scene had been cleared and both lanes of route 59 were reopened.
