St. Charles Woman Beat, Choked Sleeping Husband With Bat: Cops
Donna J. Black, 58, of the 400 block of Valley View Drive in St. Charles, is charged with trying to kill her husband as he slept.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A St. Charles woman has been charged with attempted murder after she allegedly tried to strangle her husband with a baseball bat as he slept early Sunday. Police say Donna J. Black, 58, of the 400 block of Valley View Drive, allegedly struck her husband, 57, with a baseball bat and pressed the bat against his throat in an attempt to asphyxiate him. The couple's daughter reportedly contacted police after she discovered Black on top of her husband.
Black has been charged with attempted murder, one felony count of aggravated domestic battery, and another count of aggravated domestic battery that involves strangling.
Police told Chicago Tribune that there had been no previous domestic violence reports at the couple's Valley View Drive home. They said Black's husband was left with multiple lacerations to the head and a broken arm as a result of the struggle. He was rushed to a Geneva Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Black is being held on $750,000 bond at the Kane County Jail. If released, Black is prohibited from making contact with her husband or going near their home. She is set to appear in court Friday.
