Submission by the city of Wheaton
WHEATON, IL - The city has contracted with American Road Maintenance to apply an asphalt treatment to several residential streets. This road preservation project is scheduled to begin the week of July 25, 2016, and is scheduled to be completed by Friday, July 29, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
To extend the life of roadways, crews will be applying GSB-88, a treatment that is the equivalent of staining a wood deck to protect it from sun and water damage. Applying this treatment provides similar protection for pavement. The following streets will be affected by this work:
- Kelle Court, from Kingston Drive to the cul-de-sac
- Westminster Street, from Bradford Drive to Durham Drive
- Bradford Drive, from Westminster Street to Kingston Drive
- Salford Court, from Bradford Drive to the cul-de-sac
- Bristol Court, from Bradford Drive to the cul-de-sac
- Kingston Drive, from Durham Drive to Hull Drive
- Downing Court, from Bradford Drive to the cul-de-sac
- Hull Drive, from Butterfield to Langford Court.
If your home is located within this work area, you will receive a notice from the city.
While these streets will remain open, the city recommends that you do not drive across the treatment and then onto driveways while the treatment is wet. Otherwise, you will track wet product onto the driveway. Crews will place cones on the pavement to alert drivers when it is wet. The treatment usually dries about one to two hours after it is applied.
The city is also asking residents not to park on the affected streets between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
