Summer Daze Returns to Downtown Warrenville Aug. 1 & 2

The 37th annual Summer Daze of Warrenville offers a car show, live bands, inflatables and games for kids, business and food booths, and a beer tent. Admission is free.

Owners of classics, hot rods or any other kind of cool car are invited to display their rides at the Car Show during Summer Daze on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration is $15 and begins at 8:00 a.m. the day of the show, which offers 23 classes and three awards for each. Awards are announced at 3:30 p.m. The event is organized by Warrenville-based Countryside Customs.

Hungry visitors have a variety of food booths to choose from to satisfy any craving. Vendors serve sandwiches, burgers, brats, wraps, desserts and more from 5:00-11:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, and 12:00-11:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2. Food vendors include Marino’s Kitchen, Genoa Italian Concessions, Tropical Ice, Blue Gorilla Beverage Company, The Tidal Cave, and Sonia’s Diner.

Kids of all ages find fun and excitement on inflatables from 5:30-9:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, and 1:00-9:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2. Also for the kids, Radio Disney is on site Saturday from 1:00-3:00 with interactive games, contests, and more, and there kids can join in on fun and games Saturday from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Business booths are open from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1 and from 12:00- 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2 to inform people of their products and services and sometimes distribute free samples, and members of the radio station 95.9 The River host a booth from noon-2:00 p.m. Saturday, offering games and giving away prizes.

Summer Daze organizers also are proud to present a wide range of musical bands during both days of the event. Below is a schedule for featured bands:

Friday, Aug. 1:

Banjo Buddies from 6:00-7:00 p.m.: Chicago’s top, nationally recognized Dixieland jazz band entertains audiences across the country with their unique, eclectic style of music.

Modern Day Romeos from 7:30-9:00 p.m.: The musical selection of MDR is about as wide as it gets while altering most of the songs to their own style with added comedy and medleys.

ARRA from 9:30-11:30 p.m.: A classic rock cover band, ARRA plays music from Tesla, Whitesnake, Journey, Foreigner, Boston, AC/DC, Aerosmith, and more. If you love stadium rock, you will love ARRA!

Saturday, Aug. 2:

Battle of the Bands from 1:00-4:00 p.m.: The Warrenville Park District’s Battle of the Bands serves as a showcase for teenage musicians. Winners advance to the Illinois Parks and Recreation Regional Battle of the Bands Competition with a chance to perform at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield.

The New Invaders from 5:30-7:00 p.m.: The New Invaders are truly “new,” as this inspirational 60s rock review ushers back in the fabulous era of British rock and roll with major new players. Powerfully packed with an incredible sound and theatrical touch.

SaddleBrook from 7:30-9:00 p.m.: This young, high-energy country band offers their unique version of today’s country hits. They have opened for Lady Antebellum, Phil Vassar, and Miranda Lambert. Their show will leave you boot stompin’ and crawling back for more!

7th Heaven from 9:30-11:30 p.m.: 7th Heaven is a rock/pop band from the Chicagoland area whose style has been characterized as ranging from hard rock and heavy metal to 80s and 90s pop rock. They also are known for their “30 songs in 30 minutes” medley from the 70s and 80s.

Summer Daze is in downtown Warrenville near the intersection of Route 56 (Butterfield Road) and Batavia Road.
