Suspects Flee Police In Stolen Car, Hide In Shed In Wheaton: Cops

Police charged Gerardo Flores, 18, and 3 juveniles with burglary and possession of a stolen car.

WHEATON, IL — Police arrested an 18-year-old man and three juveniles after a police chase following an attempted break-in in Wheaton Sunday. Gerardo Flores, 18, and the three juvenile suspects were apprehended in a car that was reported stolen out of Chicago, police say.

Police say the suspects tried to flee the burglary in a Dodge van just before 7 p.m. The driver failed to stop when police attempted to pull them over and a pursuit began, police say.

Responding police used stop sticks to deflate one of the vehicle's tires and the suspects got out of the car and fled on foot. A K-9 officer from the Elmhurst Police Department helped cops track the suspects to a shed in a backyard near the intersection in the 800 block of N. West Street.
