Temporary All-Way Traffic Stop Proposed For Washington Street At Harrison
Wheaton City Council will consider the temporary four-way stop as they work to address an increase in crashes at the intersection.
WHEATON, IL — On Monday, the Wheaton City Council will consider a city code amendment that would establish a temporary four-way stop on Washington Street at Harrison Avenue. The move comes amid an increase in crashes at the intersection over the past few years."
There are currently stop signs on Washington at Harrison, but no devices for traffic control on Harrison at Washington.

intersection of Harrison Avenue and Washington Street due to the number of traffic accidents occurring at this location," according to city documents.
There were two accidents at the intersection in 2022, three in 2023, five in 2024 and four last year. To date, there has been one accident at the intersection in 2026.

City documents state that the four-way stop has been proposed "to improve safety until a
permanent solution can be implemented."
The item will be considered at the city council meeting at 7 p.m. on Feb. 2 in the Wheaton City Council Chambers.
