Thief Buys Car In Texas With Wheaton Resident's ID: Cops
The victim discovered their ID had been used to buy a car in February.

WHEATON, IL --- A Wheaton resident's ID was recently stolen and used to buy a car in Texas. The victim, who lives in the 200 block of Prairie Ave., told police the incident took place on February 28.
Police say the information was stolen by an unknown suspect.
According to Bankrate, this type of crime is not uncommon. In the past few years, identity thieves have been increasingly using stolen information to buy cars. Once a car is purchased, the identity thief may switch out the license plates and information to further conceal the crime.
