Thieves Make Fake ID With Wheaton Resident's Info: Cops

Police say someone made a fake driver's license and opened several credit card accounts.

WHEATON, IL — Police are investigating an identity theft incident in which information was stolen from a resident to make a fake ID and open credit cards. According to police, the incident happened sometime between Jan. 6 and Feb. 11.

Police say the suspect or suspects gained access to the resident's personal information by unknown means. They used that information to make a fake driver's license.

With the driver's license, they were able to open several charge accounts in the resident's name, police say.
