Have happy handwriting, learn a language, and make up your mind next week.

1. Happy handwriting. With Calligraphy, starting January 19, learn the ancient art and create a classic fifteenth-century italic alphabet! Boasting 20 years of experience, our instructor's designed a basic course using dip pen and ink to help you master design application and photocopy techniques, plus make special projects like greeting cards and poems. Supplies can be purchased from the instructor on the first night of class for $12. Class held every Thursday, 7-9P through February 23 at the Sunset Knoll Recreation Center (820 S. Finley Ave.). For ages 16 and up. Register online.
2. Learn a language. About 37.5 million American adults live with some form of hearing impairment. Sign Language, an introductory course, teaches you basic signs and phrases, like good job or you’re welcome. Learn how to communicate with someone who's deaf or hard-of-hearing from a certified deaf education instructor. Class held every Monday, 6-7P through February 27 at the Sunset Knoll Recreation Center (820 S. Finley Ave.). For ages 16 and up. Register online.
3. Make up your mind. Train your mind the way you train your body for the perfect antidote to daily stress! In Mindful Meditation, starting January 19, Chopra Center-certified instructor Stephanie Frantz teaches you centuries-old meditation techniques for relaxation and increasing your well-being. Class meets every Thursday, 8-8:50P through February 9 at the Wheaton Park District Community Center (1777 S. Blanchard St.). For ages 14 and up. Register online.
