U.S. Rep. Roskam Honors Children's Caseworker In Wheaton

Stephanie Morgensen was recognized for the work she does helping abused children as a caseworker.

WHEATON, IL — U.S. Representative Peter Roskam (IL-6) stopped in Wheaton Friday to recognize the work a local caseworker has done to help children who are victims of abuse. Stephanie Morgensen, who works at Jeanine Nicarico Children’s Advocacy Center in Wheaton, previously in the DuPage County County State's Attorney's Office's Victim Witness Department.

Roskam said of Morgensen's current role "She has taken on a job that very few people have the emotional capacity to do and she’s done it exceptionally well," according to a news release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.

State's Attorney Robert Berlin praised Morgensen for her work helping children who have been physically or sexually abused in DuPage County. "To Stephanie, it's not just a job. She truly cares about these victims and that makes her so effective and important to the office," Berlin said.

The Jeanine Nicarico Children's Advocacy Center, which opened in 2013, counsels and supports children who have experienced abuse. The center was named for Jeanine Nicarico, a 10-year-old girl from unincorporated Naperville who was kidnapped and murdered in 1983.
