CAROL STREAM, IL — Carol Stream police have released surveillance video of a suspect in an attempted kidnapping that took place Friday. Police say the suspect may also be linked to a 2019 incident in which a girl was followed home from a park in Glendale Heights.

According to police, the man tried to grab a 13-year-old girl just before 9 p.m. Friday near Flint Trail and Niagara Street in Carol Stream. Other children in the area came to the girl's aid and the man fled on a bike, police say.

The man was described as being in his mid- to late 20s with dark skin, according to the Carol Stream Police Department. He stands between five feet ten inches tall and six feet tall and has a slender, athletic build, a full beard, thick eyebrows and thick arm hair, witnesses told police.

He was last seen wearing a light blue t-shirt with bright white lettering and a phone number on the back and an unknown company name on the front, with gray pants.
Police say the man fled the scene on a silver, blue or light blue bicycle with a thin frame and thin tires and a basket or shelf behind the seat.

According to Carol Stream police, the suspect description matches that from a July 2019 incident. In that incident, police say the suspect followed a 17-year-old girl home from a park in Glendale Heights and asked to come into her house. When she refused, he fled on a bike, police say.
