Violent Crime Down in Wheaton: FBI Report
The FBI has released the 2014 Unified Crime Report.

The FBI recently released its annual ”Crime in the United States” report, which includes information about Wheaton.
According to the report, Wheaton saw 28 violent crimes in 2014 while in 2013, the village had 32 reports of violent crimes. Violent crime includes offenses involving force or the threat of force: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault, according to the FBI.

Of the violent crimes reported in 2014, there were five rapes, 12 robberies and 11 aggravated assaults. Other crime stats for Wheaton include 370 property crimes, 48 burglaries and 311 reports of larceny/theft.
Nationally, violent crime decreased last year by 0.2 percent from 2013, according to the report.
