WARRENVILLE, IL — The city administrator of Warrenville has been charged with public indecency after authorities say he "knowingly performed an act of lewd exposure" in the locker room at Lifetime Fitness in Warrenville.

John Coakley, 59, of the 2S600 block of Westbury Court, was charged with one misdemeanor count of public indecency — lewd exposure. Coakley turned himself in Thursday after a $2,000 personal recognizance warrant was issued for his arrest. He was released later that afternoon.

Police say Coakley "performed an act of lewd exposure" inside the men's locker room around 9:15 p.m. on July 24. Charges were filed against Coakley following an investigation.

“The allegations in this case are disturbing and if proven true, the defendant will be held accountable for his actions” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release.

Coakley is set to appear in court again on Aug. 29.
