WEST CHICAGO, IL -- A West Chicago man has been found guilty of sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl he coached at a private athletic club. Jon Miki, 51, of the 2500 block of Havens Drive, was convicted of two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in a bench trial Friday.

Miki was charged in 2018 in connection with allegations that he sexually abused the teen girl at West Chicago Home on two separate occasions between March 24 and March 31, 2018. The girl's parents alerted authorities, which led to Miki's arrest in December 2018. He has been free on bond since then.

At the sentencing, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said, "This afternoon, Judge MacKay found Jon Miki guilty of using his position of trust and authority over a seventeen-year-old girl to satisfy his sexual desires. Not only did Mr. Miki abuse his victim, he also abused the trust placed in him by the victim’s parents as well as the athletic community in which he was involved."
