Suess Wins Wheaton Mayoral Race: Unofficial Results
Wheaton elected its first new mayor in more than a decade.
WHEATON, IL -- The race for Wheaton mayor ended with Tuesday with council member and long-time Wheaton resident Phil Suess being projected as winner. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Suess had nearly 53 percent of votes and Prendiville had 47 percent.

With Mayor Steve Gresk stepped down after more than a decade, so Wheaton voters faced a choice between Suess and John R. Prendiville.
Phil Suess, who was declared the unofficial winner with 3,617 votes, has served on the Wheaton City Council since 2005 and also serves as the chairman of DuPage County Water Commission's Financial Committee. Suess, who has graduate degrees in business administration and economics, has lived in Wheaton for 30 years. He has a wife and three children.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Prendiville had just 3,239 votes compared to Suess's 3,617 votes. Prendiville, an attorney, has lived in Wheaton with his wife, Georgia for nearly 30 years. They have four children.
City Council
Three people ran for two open seats on the Wheaton City Council. Suzanne M. Fitch and Erica Bray-Parker secured seats, according to unofficial vote totals.
- Suzanne M. Fitch: 4,909 votes
- Ronald A. Almiron: 2,574 votes
- Erica Bray-Parker: 3,564 votes
Community Unit School District 200
Three spots are open on the Community Unit School District 200 board of education. The candidates who sought to fill the seats are listed below, along with unofficial voting results:
- Susan Booton: 4,816 votes
- Chris Crabtree: 4,920 votes
- Dave Long: 4,539 votes
- Mary Yeboah: 3,094 votes
- Harold Lonks: 3,270 votes
More than 95,000 headed out to vote in DuPage County Tuesday, which makes up less than 15 percent of the county's registered voters.
