Wheaton College art students will exhibit their work from over the summer in the annual "Something from Summer" exhibit that opened yesterday, Tuesday, Oct. 12 and will run through Oct. 31. The art will be displayed in the Hansen Small Gallery and the Student Gallery of Adams Hall at Wheaton College.
Jesse Pinho, a senior graphic design student from Boston, Mass., submitted "Brand identity for vinyl and card stock—Medical Professional Institute (MPI)," a small painting of the MPI logo and next to it, a business card with his name on it. Pinho has worked at MPI for 7 years, and spent his summer revamping the school's brand identity. "We had an old logo that was really unprofessional and kind of outdated and we didn't really have a brand identity," Pinho said. "So I designed that this summer for them and tried to incorporate all of their documents and signs and posters and everything into one look and feel."
Chentell Stiritz, a sophomore from Maui, Hawaii, submitted ceramic bowls she did over the summer at Wheaton College's Honey Rock Camp in Wisconsin. The bowls, Stiritz said, are explorations of Proverbs 31, and some have words and others depict its sayings, such as, "she works with her hands," or, "she sets about her work vigorously."
