Wheaton Cops Plan St. Patrick's Day 2020 Crackdown

The city will conduct special patrols March 12 through 17.

WHEATON, IL — The Wheaton Police Department will be cracking down on impaired drivers with extra patrols as the St. Patrick's Day holiday approaches. The crackdown will be in effect March 12 through March 17, according to a news release from Wheaton police.

In a statement, Lieutenant Van Dillenkoffer said, "We urge our residents and visitors to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day responsibly. Trained officers will be out in force to keep impaired drivers off the roads and helping to ensure everyone makes it home safely."

Residents are encouraged to designate a sober driver or use rideshare apps to get home safely if they've been drinking. Police also advise pedestrians to use caution when navigating sidewalks and crossing roadways.
