Wheaton To Dedicate Street To Fallen Soldier Friday

Officials will dedicate an honorary street sign at Karlskoga and Hale to the memory of fallen soldier SPC Samuel T. Watts, of Wheaton.

WHEATON, IL — The City of Wheaton will honor fallen soldier and Wheaton native SPC Samuel T. Watts with the dedication of an honorary street sign Friday. The honorary sign will have a permanent spot at the corner of Karlskoga and Hale Avenues.

Watts, who graduated from Wheaton North High School, served as a specialist in the U.S. Army. In 2012, Watts lost his life in combat in Afghanistan. His honorary street sign is part of Wheaton's honorary street sign program, which launched in September 2016.

Community members are invited to attend the dedication ceremony at 2 p.m. on July 21.
