Wheaton Establishes Pride Week Starting June 22
The proclamation was signed by Wheaton Mayor Philip Suess June 15.

WHEATON, IL — The city of Wheaton recently issued a proclamation establishing a Pride Week to celebrate its LGBTQ community. Mayor Philip Suess signed the proclamation Monday, making June 22 through June 28 officially Pride Week.
The proclamation states, in part "[T}he City of Wheaton is dedicated to the acceptance of all its residents, regardless of age, beliefs, color, disability, ethnicity, identity, race, religion, sex and sexual orientation."
It goes on to declare Pride Week "to promote the principles of equality and liberty for all our residents."

As part of Pride Week, the Downtown Wheaton Association will be painting windows and creating an art map to spotlight the pride-themed displays. They also encouraged residents and business owners to share their photos on the Downtown Wheaton Association Facebook page.
