Wheaton Fire Department Extinguishes Home Fire, Extensive Damage
Wheaton Fire Department extinguished a blaze at the 1400 block of E. Groton Lane Friday. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

WHEATON, IL — A fire broke out at 8 p.m. Friday in a home in the 1400 block of E. Groton Lane, according to Wheaton Fire Chief Bill Schultz. Fire officials arrived to find a blaze extending from a deck and up into the home’s interior and attic.
Wheaton fire crews were able to get the fire under control within 15 minutes.The Wheaton Police Department and neighboring fire departments also helped battle the flames. The residence was not occupied at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
According to fire department officials, the home sustained extensive damage. The cause of Friday night’s residential fire is still under investigation, but officials reported that the circumstance did not appear to be suspicious.
