Wheaton Man Steals Energy Drink In Front of Cop: POLICE
Elmhurst police officer just happened to be Mariano's in full uniform when theft allegedly occurred, reports say.

A Wheaton man is accused of swiping an energy drink from a store in front of a uniformed Elmhurst police officer, reports said.
The officer was in Mariano’s at 678 N. York St. around 4:39 p.m. Nov. 29. The officer said he saw a young male, later identified as Kevin Jackson, 20, of Wheaton, acting suspiciously in the deli area.

Jackson weighed his food, When he got to the exit, he stopped, looked around and grabbed a Monster Energy drink, reports said.
The uniformed police officer identified himself to Jackson, who allegedly threw the merchandise into the garbage can outside.

Police said that Jackson led the officer on a short foot chase down York Street. The Wheaton man was apprehended moments later and placed under arrest.
Jackson was charged with retail theft of a total value of items worth $16.50. He was released on bond and is banned from Mariano’s, police said.
