Wheaton Man Wins $50,000 on MS Project Lottery Ticket

Wheaton resident Ngun Tawng scratched an Illinois Lottery MS Project ticket and instantly won $50,000, according to the Illinois Lottery.

“I wanted to try a different ticket. What better than a ticket that supports Multiple Sclerosis research? It’s a double win!” he said when he presented his winning ticket at the Lottery Prize Center in Des Plaines.Tawng said he buys a different instant lottery ticket each month. He plans to use the windfall to buy a house. His advice for other lottery players is, “Try a ticket with a cause. You can make a difference.”

The winning ticket was purchased at S & K Liquor, 628 East Saint Charles Road in Carol Stream. The retailer received a $500 bonus, or one percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.

MS Project is a $3 instant ticket and is expected to raise nearly $1 million for Multiple Sclerosis research. All net proceeds, after prize payouts and expenses, benefit MS research statewide.

Of the three top prizes of $50,000 available to be won, two have not yet been claimed.
