Wheaton Mariano's Retail Theft Ends In Police Chase
Police say the incident was not linked to "a protest or riotous activity."
WHEATON, IL — What started as a retail theft at Mariano's in Wheaton ended in a short police chase Tuesday evening. Wheaton police say the incident also resulted in aggravated battery to a police officer and was unrelated to "a protest or riotous activity."
According to police, they were called to the Mariano's at 625 S. Main St., for a retail theft in progress around 6 p.m. Police say the incident led to a police chase with "several squad cars" in and around the south side of the central business district.
Police added that there is no threat to the community. The incident is currently under investigation.
