Wheaton May Rescue Historic House of Seven Gables from Demolition
The 19th-century House of Seven Gables was set to be demolished to make way for new homes, but the Wheaton Park District could save it.

WHEATON, IL — The Wheaton Park District may be able to save a historic 19th-century home that was slated for demolition. The Park District will hold a special meeting on May 24th at 4 p.m. at DuPage County Historical Museum to talk about options regarding the House of Seven Gables, according to My Suburban Life.
The fate of the House of Seven Gables has been in jeopardy since Pulte Developers got the go-ahead to redevelop the 15.7-acre Loretto Convent property with 48 upscale single family homes. The mansion was previously offered for free to anyone who was able to move it.
