Wheaton Police Bring Christmas Early With 'Shop With A Cop'
Wheaton police escorted nearly a dozen kids in need on a pre-holiday shopping spree to make their Christmas a little brighter.

WHEATON, IL — A group of kids in need got a headstart on Christmas during the Wheaton Police Department's inaugural "Shop with a Cop" event. During the Dec. 7 festivities, Wheaton police took a parade of squad cars (complete with flashing lights!) filled with kids to Target to make their holiday wishes come true.
Throughout the shopping trip, Wheaton police officers helped the kids pick out gifts for themselves and for their family members. The group then headed back to the Wheaton police station to wrap their gifts, decorate holiday cookies, and visit with Santa Claus, who read them stories. They wrapped up the fun with lunch from Chick-fil-A.
In a statement, Wheaton Police Training & Community Relations Officer Patti Potter said, "Being able to give back to others is a key part of the holidays, and our officers loved being able to help make the holidays a little brighter for younger residents that might not otherwise be able to give or receive gifts this year."
