Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood.
The City of Wheaton Fire and Police Departments are co-sponsoring a blood drive to help our neighbors, community and country, and to pay tribute to those who defend our freedom. The American Red Cross will operate the blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at the Wheaton Police Department, 900 W. Liberty Drive.
Anyone can donate blood at this drive. If you would like to set up an appointment to donate blood, visit www.redcrossblood.org. In the “find a blood drive” search window, enter zip code 60187. Or, call Sherry at 630-260-4861 or send an email to police@wheaton.il.us.
On this national day of remembrance, donating blood is a way to make a life-saving difference in the community. One blood donation can help save three lives. The American Red Cross supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood supply, and more than 41,000 blood donations are needed every day to maintain that supply.
