Wheaton Quilting Group Invites New Members to Join Effort
The quilting groups sends its creations to groups in need.
Do you enjoy sewing and are over the age of 50?
You may consider joining “a small but mighty” quilting group in Wheaton that, over the years, has sent its small, colorful creations to pediatric units, child care facilities, anti-abortion clinics and the Ronald McDonald House while bigger quilts have been sent to homeless shelters, tornado victims and other organizations that sometimes auction them off as part of a fundraiser, the Daily Herald reports. This year, the group of three women donated 42 quilts.
The group meets every Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Wheaton Park District’s Leisure Center, which is located just north of Memorial Park, 208 W. Union Ave.
