A woman in the 900 block of Michigan Street filed a police report on Feb. 18, told police she received a letter in the mail from the IRS stating that the agency had received her tax return and was conducting a thorough review.

According to the report, the woman hadn’t submitted a tax return this year because she was waiting on a 1099 form.

Police said the woman had her identity stolen in 2012 by someone who used her personal information to file a fraudulent tax return and collect the refund. She believes the same person is stealing her identity as the one in 2012.
