Wheaton Seeks Applications for Open Police Officer Position

The Wheaton Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.

The Wheaton Police Department strives to provide the most professional and elite officers to serve the community and suppress criminal activities. The Department offers quality training, leadership advancement opportunities and specialty assignments in criminal investigations, traffic, narcotics investigation, school liaison officer (two high schools) as well as various county-wide enforcement units.

Police Officer Minimum Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship;
  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university by application deadline (copy of original, official transcripts due at application deadline);
  • Possess a valid driver's license, which will be used for identification at all phases of testing
  • Must be at least 20 years of age and under 35 at time of application deadline, unless exempt by state statute. Candidates MUST be 21 years of age by date of hire;
  • Corrected vision to 20/20;
  • Current or past military veterans must produce a copy of their Form DD-214 at application deadline; and,
  • Successfully complete and submit an online application and all required documents by 4:00 p.m. on July 14, 2016.

Testing Information

Candidates must attend the orientation, physical test and written exam on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Wheaton North High School. Doors will open at 6:45 a.m

. Candidates should arrive with valid photo identification to sign-in. Orientation begins at 7:30 a.m. and the Physical Ability Test (POWER test) will immediately follow.

Candidates who successfully pass the POWER test will take the written exam immediately after. Candidates arriving after7:30 a.m. will NOT be permitted to test. Come dressed to participate in the POWER test. It is highly recommended that you bring water and a snack.
